Yep, see the logic there…. NOT

Fr. Jeremy Davies – an Exorcist, and Oxford graduate who is also a qualified physician, (You’d think that an Oxford graduate and physician would know better) has written that promiscuity, whether homosexual or heterosexual, can lead to dire spiritual consequences. Hmmm, lets see what sort of hole the Fr. can dig for himself.

Promiscuity, as well as homosexuality and pornography, says 73 year-old Fr. Jeremy Davies, is a form of sexual perversion and can lead to demonic possession. Offering what may be an explanation for the explosion of homosexuality in recent years, Fr. Davies said, “Among the causes of homosexuality is a contagious demonic factor.”

Keep digging Fr.

“Even heterosexual promiscuity is a perversion; and intercourse, which belongs in the sanctuary of married love, can become a pathway not only for disease but also for evil spirits.”

Uh Huh. Sure promiscuity can lead to catching diseases, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON’T LET THEM WEAR CONDOMS!

Did I mention that Fr. Davies is a Catholic, perhaps you already guessed that. He “was appointed exorcist of the Westminster Archdiocese in 1986 after a four month training period in Rome.” They must have some fun training sessions.

Jeepers that holes nearly deep enough Fr., but one more time

He also said that Satan is responsible for having blinded most secular humanists to the “dehumanising effects of contraception and abortion and IVF, of homosexual ‘marriages’, of human cloning and the vivisection of human embryos in scientific research.” Extreme secular humanism, “atheist scientism”, is comparable to “rational satanism” and these are leading Europe into a dangerous state of apostasy.

Rational Satanism – now there’s a new one I haven’t heard before.

Fr. Davies also warns in his book against so-called New Age and occult practices, as well as trendy exercise and “spiritual healing” regimens derived from eastern religions.

“The thin end of the wedge (soft drugs, yoga for relaxation, horoscopes just for fun and so on) is more dangerous than the thick end because it is more deceptive – an evil spirit tries to make his entry as unobtrusively as possible.”

“Beware of any claim to mediate beneficial energies (eg. reiki), any courses that promise the peace that Christ promises (eg. enneagrams), any alternative therapy with its roots in eastern religion (e.g. acupuncture).” Needless to say, overtly occult activities such as séances and witchcraft are “direct invitations to the Devil which he readily accepts.”

Now I’m almost with Davies on some of this. I’m also wary of the claims of horoscopes, ‘spiritual healing’, reiki, acupuncture, etc; but I don’t see getting involved in any of these is going to let ‘evil spirits’ in. Sure people might be wasting their time and money getting involved in some of these ‘New Age’ practices. But then I see people being involved with religion as wasting their time and money as well.

Who is the more deluded, people who think acupuncture will fix their ills or people who pray to a sky god to cure their ills?

Boy oh boy – the mind moves in mysterious ways for this dude. He also thinks

Man trying to build a better world without God

is a bad thing, and he has a colleague

Italian exorcist Fr. Gabriel Amorth writes that it is particularly difficult to liberate a victim who is guilty of abortion, and that this can take a “very long time”.

Fr. Davies has a new book out – Exorcism: Understanding Exorcism in Scripture and Practice – I’m sure that would be a hoot to read. The book was published earlier this year by the Catholic Truth Society. Now there’s on oxymoron if I ever saw one.

Bruce you may not want to read the article, what with it being about Catholics and all.  :)

I dunno. Seems like a song I’ve heard before. ;-)

She turned me into a newt!

  3. I must be going to hell for sure. That’s okay! If it weren’t for contraception, we’d have 100 kids. What would we do with 100 kids? How would we feed them?
    Great post. :)

  4. Education as a Model for Atheist Activism…

All griping aside, the first day of classes in college is fun. Maybe my perspective is skewed now that I am the one teaching and not the student whose summer vacation just ended. Still, many of the students seem eager as they listen intently and eval…..

1 Tim. 1:10 – sodomites are called ungodly and sinners, unholy and profane, lawless and disobedient.

They are called by God to chastity. It is important to note that homosexual attractions and inclinations, while disordered and dangerous, are not by themselves sinful per se.

It is the acting out on homosexual attraction that is sinful. Those with homosexual desires can still live a life worthy of Christ by remaining chaste and pure as they abstain from acting out on their desires.
